Ibadan, Nigeria – In a remarkable demonstration of altruism and commitment to community welfare, Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria organized a transformative event, offering free medical tests to the residents of Ibadan. The event, held on the 20th of May 2023, brought together medical professionals, volunteers, and the local community, resulting in a positive impact on the lives of over 70 individuals, including children and parents.

The event’s primary objective was to provide comprehensive medical screenings for various prevalent health issues affecting the population. Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria left no stone unturned, offering an array of vital tests such as Cervical Cancer Screening, Breast Examination, Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test, Hepatitis, Malaria Parasite, Blood Glucose, Packed Cell Volume (PCV), Blood Pressure (BP), and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements.

The event’s success lies not only in the provision of medical tests but also in the prompt follow-up and provision of medical attention and advice to those identified with health issues. Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria went the extra mile to ensure that those in need received appropriate guidance and support for their specific conditions, leaving no one behind.

The overwhelming appreciation from the beneficiaries of this noble initiative reflects the profound impact it had on their lives. Individuals who attended the event expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to receive high-quality medical screenings and for the personalized care they received.

While speaking to the beneficiaries, the lead doctor, Dr. Gbemijo said it is important to know an individual’s health status earlier to avoid complicated issues in the future. In his words, “We will do a test known as cancer and it’s of two types. The first one is for men (prostate cancer) when a man is above 40 years, he can do it. We will do it today because it’s something that is dangerous and kills men quickly but when someone knows early, there is no problem because there is treatment and if anyone has it today we will tell him how to go about it. “The second one is cervical cancer, it’s women that have it and it’s contacted from men but if we know earlier, there are no problems. We will check the cervix to know any woman that has it and the treatment to be done immediately. “It is good to know, if someone doesn’t know it’s a problem…”

Mrs. Adeola Odeyemi, a mother of two who attended the event, shared her heartfelt appreciation, stating, “I am immensely grateful to Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria for organizing this free medical test. As a mother, it is a great relief to know that my children and I have received comprehensive screenings. The medical attention and advice we received are invaluable, and it has given me peace of mind regarding our health.”

The impact of the event extends beyond the immediate beneficiaries. By raising awareness about prevalent health issues and providing crucial medical screenings, Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria has empowered the Ibadan community to take charge of their well-being and make informed decisions about their health.

This commendable effort by Ed Harrison Mission Nigeria serves as a shining example of the transformative power of compassion and community engagement. It is a testament to the fact that small acts of kindness can make a substantial difference in the lives of individuals and communities at large.

As we look forward to a brighter future, this initiative serves as a remarkable precedent for others to follow, inspiring hope, and fostering a healthier and happier community.
